Acupuncture works by boosting the body's natural ability to heal itself. This is achieved by placing fine needles into acu-points along meridians in the body in order to increase blood circulation and affect the central nervous system producing endorphins.
Traditional Acupuncture in Liverpool & Southport
We practice this style of Acupuncture which requires a knowledge of Chinese Medicine training and additional post graduate studies, we use a gentle and pain-free technique, with ultra-fine needles & shallow insertion. This is also good for sensitive people as no strong sensation is required, therefore, painless insertion.

Supporting Therapies: Cupping and Moxibustion
To supplement the acupuncture treatments Japanese Moxibustion and Chinese Cupping Therapy are included to reinforce energy into a point or relieve pain respectively.
Moxibustion is the art of applying warmth & energy to the acu-points and cold areas of the body. This brings immediate soothing relief to cold, stiff joints and strengthens weakened tissue.
Cupping Therapy uses glass or plastic 'jars' on the body in order to create a deep vaccum type pressure. This releases deep, painful tissue or muscle trauma and is a pain-free and relaxing experience.
Treatment
The first visit involves a consultation, diagnosis and an initial treatment..
For chronic,long-standing or multiple health issues a short course of regular treatment will be required to kick-start the body's own natural healing ability. Then less regular top-up sessions to maintain the improvements gained in the symptoms and prevent "back-sliding". Changes in symptoms or pain will normally be felt within 4 treatments,. Normally a difference can be felt after a few sessions but difficult cases may need further treatment.
For simple, acute or recent health problems only 1-3 treatments maybe required for symptoms to improve. Click here to email

2). Subsequent Treatments.....£45
3). 6-Treatment Package....£240
Note: all Packages are paid upfront at the start of treatment and a £5 supplement is added for any out of hours treatments ie. after 6pm evenings (6pm,6.30pm & 7pm), weekends and Bank Holiday appointments.
All payments are due immediately after Treatment, cash or card is accepted
HEALTH INSURANCE:
Most major Health Insurance providers also re-imburse for cost of treatment for Acupuncture. Amongst the most popular plans Medicash & Simply Health offer from 50% to 100% reimbursement depending on the scheme signed-up for, but please check with your company first before starting treatment that they recognise The Acupuncture Society or the BRCP associations. A receipt at the end of treatment is given by Birkdale Acupuncture, which is sufficient to forward to the respective Insurer for re-imbursement.
